My vises are made by Panavise, a U.S. Company.  The one with the wide jaws is the model 350.  The smaller one is the model 301. Both have the 312 Base mount – www.panavise.com

  1. bill, I just have to have it!! it’s on it’s way from sparrows .An impulse buy, I admit, but the US dollar is strong. Less than 20 bucks, including shipping….I get locked out of my jobsites on a regular basis, with the sparrows worm, and THIS…. I will no longer……

  2. Nice , so you just pull it out after you open the garage door from above or do you have to close the door and un hook it from the outside ?

  3. For years I have added a small plastic tie-wrap to my opener between the arm that the rope it tied to and the carriage above it that travels with the chain. This holds the arm in the locked position and a coat hanger or new tool can not pull hard enough to release the door. However, by using a small tie-wrap, anyone big enough to reach the rope can pull down with enough force to break the tie-wrap from the inside.

  4. The Company I work for is building several apartment complexes. This tool would come in very handy when we need to get into a garage quickly for stored items and you forgot to grab the garage door opener lol.

  5. Good tool. We have a nylon zip tie through the emergency release mechanism to prevent attacks like this. Prevents the release handle from being pulled from outside, but it's thin enough that a sharp pull on the handle directly in-line inside will snap it for emergency opening.

  6. @bosnianbill Looks like you are ready to go fishin' there mate 🙂

Nice one – MY security tip regarding garages, and to be honest general household stuff is – Don't OWN anything valuable!

Take it easy, thanks for the vid – P.S. in the wrong place, did you get the Chubb 40mm padlock ok? I understand it is probably WAY too dull to do a video for but I'd still be very interested to hear about how you got/get it open.

    Cheers

    J

  7. Most modern homes have an identical cylinder lock (as the front door) on the door entering the house from the garage. Might as well have picked the front door…unless they don't bother locking the garage door, like everyone in my family does.
