My vises are made by Panavise, a U.S. Company.  The one with the wide jaws is the model 350.  The smaller one is the model 301. Both have the 312 Base mount – www.panavise.com

  1. I have one just like that I'd like to re-key but can't get the cylinder out. It seems to have been riveted in place then hardened so I can't even drill out the rivet. Any ideas?

  2. I have been watching a lot of your videos and I'm glad I found this one! I've been using this lock to secure a lot of things over the years and I've never personally been able to open it. Time to buy a new pick set!

  3. Jim,
I "held back" my favorite Titalium to avoid withdrawal symptoms and plan to get more on my next trip to Germany. Insofar as Abloys… I cannot pick them, despite several hundred hours of turning disks with a very expensive "dedicated" tool. Wasted time, wasted money. I don't even KNOW anyone that can pick Abloys. I'm just happy that not everyone uses this design because if they did, we wouldn't have a hobby, would we?

  4. Bullshit. My will has specific instructions that I am to be buried with ALL my Medecos and Abloys… I WAS going to take my Abus Titaliums too, but I just gave them all away in the traveling lock boxes. Shit. I miss'em already.

  5. I wish I WAS a salesman for those companies, then the locks would have been FREE. Unfortunately, I'm an underpaid, overworked, cave-dwelling, knuckle dragging public servant.

  6. Thanks Mick! I figure that many of the people looking at our vids are looking for help & tips on how to open a lock (that's what I do..). If they tire of my voice, they can easily turn off the sound.

  7. Top video again. I like the way you can explain your self during your vid's, something I've never really been good at so it's nice not to have to try translate what your saying.
BTW, "ol DrBint is a great picker, but i try not too flatter him to much, but I'll keep that between us….LOL.

  8. Thanks for the kind words, bill. There are waaaaayyyy better pickers than me though, being slow and steady isn't everything! You give me way too much credit lol.

  9. Thanks Bud, that's the FIRST time anyone accused me of having control. I must've picked it up from the always calm, super relaxed and in FULL control – the famous DrBint. If he gets any calmer while picking, he'll likely fall asleep! Never seen such a laid back, deliberate, and precise picker. Too bad he's a self-proclaimed "cunt nugget". Whatever THAT is (his term). BTW, he's also instructed me on a whole new variety of useful words – and they're coming in quite handy at work!

  10. It is a Peterson Pry bar that I bent for a better angle. I LOVE it, but wish it was about 3 cm (1 inch) longer to give better, more amplified feedback. It is as close to perfect as we can expect a commercial product to be.
