(385) Burg Wächter 50mm Vulcan Picked w/Opening Tips

My vises are made by Panavise, a U.S. Company.  The one with the wide jaws is the model 350.  The smaller one is the model 301. Both have the 312 Base mount – www.panavise.com

  1. Haha hey thx Bill that's very kind,, I'm not sure I'm worthy of another package lol,,, I haven't picked that American padlock you sent me yet,,, that has been a hard pick for me,, still working on that one lol ,,, but of course always grateful for anything you do send,,, cheers bud 🙂

  2. Thank you sir! These are tricky little locks, no doubt. Te fact that you would able to get around the security pins (and keywayay) says a LOT about your advanced skill level. It may be time so send you… ANOTHER package.

  3. I have just picked one of these from Adrian,,, got an out the pack pick on video 🙂 must have been lucky,, but i did notice the same strong spring tension and very small awkward keyway, I used a 2.5 mm wrench in the opposite end of the keyway, great Vid Bill 🙂

  4. Hyia Bill, fellow picker here, I'm a noon though and only just started, was wondering were you got your little hobby VICE from as can not find one that sits not the desk like yours, and can see how it would help making things easier!

Love the video so please keep them coming and also dose anyone know any good fourms for this hobby!

I'm from the UK if anyone was wondering.

  5. Rick, not a bad idea but I already left Germany & am in Switzerland. Next time I get to Germany ill look into "importing" a few of these and passing them around.

  6. Sorry you met up with such a chuckle headed locksmith on your first attempt. I've met a couple like that but for the most part locksmiths are familiar with Locksport and willing to help out.

  7. So I went to my local locksmith today to see if maybe they had any old locks without keys to sell so I could practice and when I told him what I wanted them for he first snorted at me and then copped a serious attitude with me and then dismissed me. I was completely taken aback as no shop owner has ever treated me like that. I was very open and honest with him and he returned my curiosity with disdain. Needless to say I will be looking for practice locks somewhere other than locksmith shops.

  8. Hey Bill,
If those Vulcans are inexpensive maybe you could buy a few while you're over there and those of us in the states can buy them from you? Perhaps cost plus shipping?
Have not seen the Vulcan on Ebay. The Brass Profi is available but the 50mm is $45 plus shipping. A little rich for my blood. You could count me in for at least 2 of the Vulcans provided they're in the $20 or less range plus the $5.80 shipping.
Enjoy your trip in the beautiful Alps and safe travels.

  9. Hey Bill, great video you finally got it! I took this padlock apart but probably have not seen that video yet. It is called "Burg Wächter Vulcan 111 50 Padlock Gutted and Reviewed ". There are only 3 security spool pins inside but as you said the BUR13 restrictive keyway is REALLY tight! Imagine that keyway and the new Commando Lock pins haha! I wanted to suggest that keyway first but I was not sure if the blanks are widely available in the US so I settled with the Y52.
